Lublin. Police tracked down and arrested a woman who stole jewelery from a box at the airport

A 65-year-old woman who took jewelry worth over PLN 2,000 from another person’s container during check-in at the airport in Lublin is facing up to five years in prison. The woman was tracked thanks to the monitoring that recorded the incident.

As reported by staff assistant Elwira Domaradzka from the police in Świdnik, the woman was asked to remove the bracelets and put them in a container on the conveyor belt when passing through the security clearance at the Lublin airport.

“After scanning her personal belongings, the woman wanted to pick up her items and then found the jewelry missing. She estimated the value of the bracelets at over PLN 2,000,” the policewoman said.

Surveillance recorded the event

Monitoring registered a 65-year-old resident of Puławy, who, after going through security clearance, took the jewelry from the tape and put it in her purse. She then boarded the plane and flew away.

On Thursday (August 24), Świdnica policemen at the airport detained a 65-year-old woman who returned to the country by plane.

– The woman gave the police one of the two bracelets. She’s already been charged in the case. Now the woman is facing a trial before the court, which will decide her fate, said the aspirant Domaradzka.

Theft is punishable by up to five years in prison.
