The prosecutor's office is looking into the case of a kindergarten teacher who allegedly hit a child in the face and head. The woman has been charged, but will not be suspended from performing her duties. This was decided by the disciplinary committee for teachers. The Lublin governor summoned the chairwoman of the committee to provide an urgent explanation.
Miłosz Bednarczyk from the Lublin Voivodeship Office said on Wednesday that the teacher had been suspended from her duties at the request of the kindergarten management until the matter was resolved. However, she filed an appeal and the disciplinary committee decided that the decision to suspend her would not be upheld.
– In connection with the decision taken by the committee in the case in question, the Lublin Voivode Krzysztof Komorski summoned representatives of the Education Board in Lublin for tomorrow (22 August – ed.) in order to take actions that will prevent the teacher suspected of violating the physical integrity of one of the children from performing her official duties, in particular working with children, in her current or any other educational institution – until the matter is clarified – informed Bednarczyk.
At the same time – Bednarczyk said – the governor will urgently summon the chairwoman of the disciplinary commission to provide explanations regarding the actions taken by the commission in this matter. – If any irregularities or failure to fulfill obligations in this matter are found, appropriate decisions will be taken – he added.
As he noted, the commission was established on June 27, 2023 by the decision of the then education superintendent. Its term of office is from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2027. He stated that regardless of the commission's decision, the explanatory proceedings are conducted by the Education Superintendent in Lublin.

Charge against a teacher
On August 8, Agnieszka Kępka, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, announced that a teacher at one of the city's non-public kindergartens was charged with “several times violating the physical integrity of a child by hitting him in the face and hands.” The woman did not admit to committing the act she was accused of, she gave explanations. The proceedings are being conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office Lublin-Północ.
The report of child abuse was filed by the parents. “My wife picked up my daughter from kindergarten with a bruise on her head. My daughter said that the teacher hit her,” said Mateusz, the father of the three-year-old. The next day, the parent reported, the girl told her parents that the teacher had hurt her. The next day she went to kindergarten with a teddy bear with a voice recorder installed. After their daughter returned, the man and his wife listened to the recording, in which the teacher was aggressively treating the children. “We never sent our daughter to kindergarten again. We went to the police with the recording,” added Mateusz.
Violation of personal inviolability is punishable by up to one year of imprisonment.
