Dozens of fire brigades extinguished several fires in western Poland on Wednesday. The fire appeared almost at the same time in the districts of Wrzesin, Nowy Tomyśl (Wielkopolska) and Zielona Góra (Lubuskie Province). In total, about 150 hectares of grain were on fire.
Firefighters received information about two fires in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship almost at the same time – around 1.45 pm. According to reports, in the towns of Nowa Wieś Zbąska in the Nowy Tomyśl district and Lipa in the Wrzesin district, cereals were on fire.
120 hectares in Wielkopolska, 30 in Lubuskie
In each of the locations in Wielkopolska, fires affected about 60 hectares of grain. As the duty officer of the Greater Poland firefighters told us before 4 p.m., “the situation is under control, but the fire is still underway.” Dozens of fire brigades participated in the firefighting operation in both locations.
The third fire took place in Podmokle Wielkie in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, near the border with Wielkopolska. Firefighters received the call around 2 p.m.

According to the dispatcher of the fire brigade in Zielona Góra, the fire covered an area of about 30 hectares in the village of Podmokle Wielkie in the district of Zielona Góra.
The fire has been brought under control and is not spreading. As the spokesman for the Zielona Góra fire brigade, senior captain Piotr Kowalski, pointed out, the fire is already extinguished.
At its peak, 15 fire brigades fought the element in Lubuskie. Some units have already returned to base.
