The police reminds in the communication that the changes to the regulations, which entered into force at the beginning of 2022, introduced, among others, higher penalties for driving while under the influence of alcohol, while driving on a public road in a residential area or in a traffic zone with a vehicle other than a motor vehicle, e.g. a bicycle after using alcohol between 0.2 and 0.5 per mille, is punishable by a fine of PLN 1,000, and if the driver is intoxicated above 0.5 per mille of alcohol, the fine is PLN 2,500.

“Let us remember that drunk drivers, including cyclists, are often the culprits of tragic road accidents. Every driver driving their vehicle after alcohol or under the influence of a similar substance is a serious threat on the road, not only to themselves, but also to other road users.”
