He was supposed to drive along the streets of Łuków (Lubelskie Voivodeship) and later caused a collision, which was recorded by city monitoring. The 60-year-old driver – according to the police – had almost three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. He lost his driving license, he will pay a fine, and he will explain his behavior in court. Another driver reported that he might be driving drunk.
The incident took place on Sunday (April 23) before 8 p.m. As reported by staff assistant Marcin Jóźwik, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Łuków, the driver called the police station, who informed the policemen in Łuków about a Peugeot car driving in a “snake”.
– Uniforms moved in the direction indicated by him and after a while they noticed the described car in the area of the intersection of roads. The man driving the Peugeot initially refused to leave his car and claimed that nothing had happened. In the meantime, the police noticed a damaged Hyundai car behind him and said that “something” had happened, Jóźwik reported.

According to the police, the 60-year-old Peugeot driver stopped at the pedestrian crossing and, wanting to leave it, reversed. The man did not see the car behind him and hit it in front. – Very quickly, the police determined why the 60-year-old did not notice another car standing behind his car. It turned out that the man had almost three times the legal limit of alcohol in his exhaled air. The collision was recorded by a city surveillance camera, Jóźwik said.
He lost his driver’s license, he will go to court
No one was hurt as a result of the collision. The Peugeot was towed to a guarded parking lot and the 60-year-old lost his driving license. Soon – as the police announced – he will hear the charges and his case will end up in court.
For driving while intoxicated and causing a road collision, a 60-year-old man faces a high fine and a driving ban of several years.
– He will still have to pay at least PLN 5,000 to the Victims’ Assistance Fund and Post-penitentiary Assistance. The man will most likely also have to cover the costs of repairing the Hyundai, informed Jóźwik.
And he appealed: – Let us remember, an intoxicated driver is a threat to all road users – to us, our loved ones. Therefore, let us react to such cases. Even anonymous information provided to the police helps to eliminate drunk drivers from the roads.
