There will be a lunar eclipse next Friday. It will be one of the longest phenomena of this type in the last millennium. It will not be possible to admire them everywhere – in our country only residents of certain regions will have such a chance. What time will the phenomenon begin? How to prepare for observation?
A partial lunar eclipse will occur on Friday, November 19. In many regions of the globe, up to 97 percent of our natural satellite’s shield will remain in the shadows.
As the Moon is near its apogee, it will be the longest eclipse in approximately 1,000 years. It will take about six hours in total.
This time, the people of North America will be able to admire the phenomenon throughout its duration. Good conditions are also to prevail in the regions of Western Europe, South America, Australia and Oceania, Western Africa and a large part of Asia. The eclipse will not be visible in most of Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Eastern Europe.
Lunar eclipse in Poland – at what time?
In Poland, the eclipse will only be visible in the western regions.
The penumbra eclipse will start at 7:02 am. Then at At 8.18 there will be a partial eclipse. Most of the face of the Moon will be obscured at 10.02. The partial eclipse will end at 11.47, and the whole phenomenon will cease to be visible at 13.03.
Unfortunately, in Poland, for most of the duration of the eclipse, the Moon will be beyond the horizon, so we will only be able to admire the beginning of this phenomenon.

The lunar eclipse is one of the simplest phenomena to observe. All you have to do is get out into the air at a given time and look at our satellite. You do not need any devices for regular observation, although to see as many details as possible, it is worth having, for example, binoculars with you.

A lunar eclipse occurs during a full moon. At this time, our natural satellite, the Earth and the sun align. The planet blocks sunlight from reaching the moon, leaving some of it in shadow.
In the event of a November eclipse, only the lower edge of the moon will be illuminated. The remainder of the dial will turn reddish. Where does this color come from? This is because of the oxygen and nitrogen molecules in the Earth’s atmosphere. They are better at scattering certain shorter wavelengths of light (blue or purple), so longer wavelength colors (red, orange or yellow) are visible longer. When the Moon is in the shadow of the Earth, reddish colors dominate.
When is the next eclipse?
The November lunar eclipse will be the second of its kind in 2021. Two weeks later, on December 4, 2021, there will be a total solar eclipse.
In turn, we will have to wait for the next lunar eclipse on May 16, 2022.
