Children on scooters went to the national road No. 36. The incident took place in Lubin (Dolnośląskie Voivodeship). The parents were convinced that the 10-year-old and her 12-year-old cousin were playing outside. However, they decided to visit a friend who lived outside the city. First, they got on the bus, but when it turned out that a change would be necessary, they continued on their scooters.
The girl and boy who were traveling on the national road number 36 on scooters were noticed by an off-duty policeman. The children rode among speeding cars and trucks. However, the officer was going in the opposite direction – Stopping the car in this place would create a traffic hazard, so he informed the person on duty about what he saw. He sent prevention and road traffic patrols to the place – explained Sylwia Serafin from the police in Lubin.
They did not want to wait for the bus, they went on scooters
It turned out that the 10-year-old and her 12-year-old cousin were going to play in the playground in front of the house. However, the children changed their plans. – Without saying anything to their carers, they decided to take the bus and go to their friend who lives near Lubin. However, they drove one stop too far, and they did not want to wait for the return bus – said the policewoman. Then the children decided to ride the rest of the way on scooters. The route led along the national road number 36.
When the boy’s mother realized that the children had disappeared, she called her son’s cell phone. It turned out that the 12-year-old had left the camera in his room.
– The story ended happily. The police took the children home and handed them over to their parents, Serafin informed. She added that the father of one of the children later called the command with thanks. “I would like to thank you very much for the work you do, that you care about safety, because these kids could have died” – said the man.
