Maciej Stuhr touched upon this difficult topic in an interview with Piotr Jacoń in the “Without Politics” program. As he admitted, work was extremely important to his dad. The actor's son noted that Jerzy Stuhr, despite enormous difficulties, was able to give his all on stage. – He was a really very sick man who had problems with basic life functions, and then he went on stage and played a two-hour performance – said Maciej Stuhr. – We knew it was there the only thing that keeps him alive. If it weren't for the show “Geniusz”, we would have said goodbye to it many months earlier – he added.

Maciej Stuhr in “Without Politics” also told how his father's illness affected the family. The actor openly admitted that Jerzy Stuhr began to change. – We have this mourning process – maybe what I'm going to say will be very brutal, and maybe even inappropriate – but he it lasted already during his lifetime – the actor began.

– he added. Maciej Stuhr also admitted that he often talked about it with his mother, who noticed that the disease was taking her husband away. – Actually, every conversation I had with my mother on the phone, almost every day, half, if not 80 percent of the conversation consisted of her saying that she no longer had the partner she had had all her life – he revealed. Maciej Stuhr also added that he recently made his mother realize that she had been mourning for some time. – In the sense of longing for who we remember, who was so close to us – said the actor's son.
