Magda Gessler’s family

Magda Gessler is the daughter of Mirosław Ikonowicz, a former correspondent of the Polish Press Agency, and Olga Łucek, sound director at Polish Radio. Because her mother suffered from tuberculosis, Gessler spent a lot of time with her grandparents, Irena and Leon Łucki, who were confectioners in Komorów. “The truth is that I was born genetically conditioned by my grandmother, great-grandmother and the whole house, which was wonderfully hedonistic, aristocratic and crazy,” she recalled in an interview for “Vivy!” Magda Gessler’s younger brother, Piotr Ikonowicz, is a social activist, politician and journalist. Her godfather was a family friend, Ryszard Kapuściński. Gessler has a 40-year-old son Tadeusz (from his first marriage with the correspondent of the weekly “Der Spiegel” Volkhart Müller) and a 33-year-old daughter Lara (from a second marriage with Piotr Gessler). She is married to Waldemar Kozerawski, an aesthetic medicine doctor who lives in Toronto.

The restaurateur is a painter by education, she started cooking in the 1980s. She started her career by running a catering company. She prepared dishes for the reception of the Spanish royal court. After being appreciated by King Juan Carlos I and culinary expert Clara María González de Amezúa, she led her own workshops at the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy. She has been associated with TVN since 2010. She recorded 26 editions of “Kitchen Revolutions”, is one of the jurors in “MasterChef Polska”, and is a guest in “MasterChef Junior Polska”.
