I am ready to travel around Poland and do this job – declared Magdalena Biejat, deputy speaker of the Senate, who is the candidate of the New Left in the presidential elections, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. She also commented on the words of President Andrzej Duda after the decision of the National Electoral Commission on the financial report of the PiS committee from the 2023 elections.
On Sunday, the National Council of the New Left decided to appoint the deputy speaker of the Senate Magdalena Biejat will be the candidate of the New Left in next year's presidential elections.
Biejat: I am ready for this job
Biejat spoke more about her candidacy on Monday in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. – I will not hide the fact that the decision to run for president (…) was not easy for me at all, because I am the mother of two still small children. I think every mother will understand that such decisions are difficult because of the family, she said.
– We discussed it with my husband, with our parents. After serious and honest conversations, we decided that we could do it. The truth is that now a lot of the burden of caring for children and organizing family life will fall on them (…). I also take my voters and my obligations to the voters very seriously, she assured.
– I make it very clear that I am ready for this job. I'm ready to travel all over Poland and do this job, she said.
Biejat about the president's words: sometimes I am at a loss for words
Biejat also commented on the president's words Andrzej Dudawho commented on the failure of the National Electoral Commission to approve the decision of the unrecognized chamber of the Supreme Court regarding the committee's financial report PIS from the 2023 elections. – This post-communist hydra, which is constantly defending and feeding the remnants of the communist lie-elites in Polandtoday she gave voice once again, as I understand it, in NEC – said the president, among others.
– I really am at a loss for words sometimes and this is one of those moments. Well, we're in the program, I have something to say. The president is once again positioning himself as the defender of a specific party and his political environment, even though he should have positioned himself above this for years if he wanted to be the president of all Poles and simply hold this office with dignity, said the deputy speaker of the Senate.
– And the truth is that, unfortunately, he contributed to the chaos we have today – she said.
Biejat on the Wieczorek case: it was a very serious mistake
The Deputy Speaker of the Senate also referred to the matter of the Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorekone of the representatives of the Left in the government. This concerns, among other things, deficiencies in his declaration of assets, as well as the fact that the minister disclosed the details of the whistleblower who provided him with information about irregularities at her university.
– It is certainly true that the latest reports regarding the disclosure of data of a whistleblower from the University of Szczecin were very disturbing. I think it was a very serious mistake. I talked to Minister Wieczorek about this subject. And I told him that such situations should not happen, Biejat said.
– Minister Wieczorek also talked to the Prime Minister (Deputy Prime Minister, Krzysztof – ed.) Gawkowski, who asked him for explanations. Now I am waiting for the decision of Minister Wieczorek and the leadership of the New Left. Undoubtedly, these are further failures, she continued.
– I believe that any decision – whether any corrective actions or personnel changes – should be made as soon as possible. Some decisions should be made. I think we will find out soon – she added.
