CPK informed, that a new member, Piotr Rachwalski, will join the company's management board on 19 August. – The construction of a modern hub and a network of high-speed railways is an ambitious infrastructure plan. It is not only an airport that is a window to the world, but also a new quality of travelling around the country by train, which will connect many Polish cities. I am glad that I will be able to co-create this programme and I hope to make good use of my 20 years of experience in managing public transport companies – said Rachwalski.
New member of the CPK board. Who is Piotr Rachwalski?
The new board member is a transport economist by education. He is the founder and long-time president of the Institute for the Development and Promotion of Railways, which has been operating since 1999. He founded the transport company Nord Express, where he is the president. In the past, he helped in the Swiss Fund, where he advised and co-created transport plans.
From June 2014 to January 2019, Rachwalski was the president of Koleje Dolnośląskie. He also headed large bus carriers – PKS SŁUPSK and PKM sp. z o. o. He initiated and co-founded the Association of Local Government Rail Carriers. He is also the co-founder and president of the Association of Public Collective Transport Operators of Poland PKS, associating several dozen companies from the transport industry. Most recently, he served as the president of the Metropolitan Transport Enterprise providing transport services within the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis.
The CPK Supervisory Board has new members. Including a former minister
CPK also announced that two new members of the Supervisory Board have been recently appointed. The first is Paweł Wojciechowski, formerly Minister of Finance, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador to the OECD. He was also the Chief Economist at ZUS. – We want to create a major hub for Central and Eastern Europe. It is good that, in addition to building an airport, the CPK program includes the rapid construction of a Warsaw – Łódź – Wrocław/Poznań railway line, or even full integration and expansion of the existing system of motorways and expressways – said Paweł Wojciechowski.
Michał Wolański, a postdoctoral degree holder in social sciences in the field of economics and finance and a professor at the Warsaw School of Economics at the Institute of Infrastructure, Transport and Mobility, has also joined the Supervisory Board. He is a consultant for the World Bank. In his research, he focuses on the impact of transport investments on sustainable development. An expert in the field of transport economics, regional development, sustainable mobility and EU funds. – CPK is a program that Poland needs. It is good that the scope and schedules of this investment have been made more realistic. Now, among other things, we have to work on maximizing the benefits for Poles, so as to create well-paid jobs in the largest possible area.
