In Majorca, the main island of the Spanish Balearic Islands, clashes of foreign tourists with the police and gendarmerie took place on Sunday, local media reported on Monday. Most of the resisting vacationers were drunk. They were mainly citizens of Great Britain and France.

According to the daily “Diario de Mallorca”, the riots took place mainly in the resort of Megaluf, where numerous tourists resisted Spanish officials who tried to interrupt illegally organized games. According to an announcement from the local police, the services intervened because aggressive tourists, mainly young people, disregarded anti-epidemic regulations. Additionally, they destroyed public property and cars parked in the streets.

In the Balearic Islands it is forbidden to organize meetings in public spaces between 1.00 am and 6.00 am. It is also forbidden to sell alcohol during this time.
