Makłowicz: This choice can now be made or in the future some embarrassment

Robert Makłowicz, a culinary traveler and journalist, encouraged on Wednesday to vote in the Sunday presidential election. – If, according to young people, this choice can now or in the future an embarrassment, then statistically they will struggle with this embarrassment than we do – he said.

Robert Makłowicz pointed out that he is going to all elections that relate to him directly because he keeps the promise he made himself in the Polish People's Republic. – I promised myself that if we ever regain independence, I would go to all elections. And I keep my word. I really go to all of them. Recently, I was on the supplementary elections to the Krakow City Council – he said.

“We'll sleep as much as we are laid out”

– When we regained independence and agency, we have concluded in my understanding, and I do not think that something has changed to this day, a kind of social agreement, which consists in the fact that, as in every democratic state, the state will be going in a direction that will be chosen by the majority, which, choosing something, will also respect the minority that did not choose it – he said.

He stated that “the state in which we live is not a mythical system, this is not a conspiracy, but it is simply a social agreement.” – We agree that the state can use violence, because officially only the police can use violence. We agree that there are prisons. We know that you must not park in places for invalids. And we also know that we will sleep as much as we are linked to ourselves. So we go to the elections so that the majority would decide what this country looks like – said Makłowicz.

Why did young people vote for Mentzen?

He also commented that most young voters who like Makłowicz or treat him like a symbol, voted in the first round for the confederation candidate, Sławomir Mentzen. – I do not know when it comes to every voter of Mr. Mentzen, because I did not conduct any relevant field research or statistics, but I will not be particularly revealing if I say that they vote for various reasons. There are people among the voters of Mr. Mentzen with a completely different and often incompatible vision of the world – he said.

– It can be either a rebellion or a very thoughtful vision of what our country should look like. It can be a heart reflex, it could finally be generational proximity, because it seems, the youngest of the candidates who applied for this office – said Makłowicz. He added that it is important to speak to these voters in different ways, because they are different people.

He also encouraged young people to go to the second round. – We go to elections because we remember the PRL, we remember what enslavement was. Young people were born in the European Union, they were born with open borders. For them this is normality. For us it is something extraordinary, so you can't speak ex cathedra to these people. You have to accept this situation – he said.

He emphasized that “if, according to them, this choice can now or in the future some embarrassment, then statistically they will struggle with this embarrassment than us”, because they will “live longer”.
