PLN 100,000 was lost by a 55-year-old resident of Maków Mazowiecki, who took advantage of the online offer of quick earnings on cryptocurrencies. – The fraudsters were behind the allegedly lucrative offer – informed the Maków police.

In October last year, the 55-year-old came across an advertisement on the Internet that encouraged people to invest in cryptocurrencies and ensured a quick profit. The man interested in the offer clicked on the icon and then entered his phone number. A woman quickly spoke to him and offered to help with investing. She convinced the man to invest on online platforms and make money transfers to the accounts indicated by her, reported the spokeswoman for the Maków police, Podkom. Monika Winnik.

He lost PLN 108,000

For four months, the Makowian followed the advice of his adviser. He believed her promises of quick profit and was convinced that he was investing his money properly. – The 55-year-old’s suspicions were not even aroused by the eastern accent that the interlocutor had, so he did everything according to her instructions. Unfortunately, the assurances of a quick profit were not true. Instead of the promised profit, the man lost PLN 108,000, the policewoman said.

The police appeal for extreme caution when investing in cryptocurrencies, especially in the case of offers found accidentally on the Internet. – Before we make the first transfer, let’s check whether the stock exchange or platform on which we want to invest exists. It is also worth seeking the opinion or advice of a person who has more experience in these matters before investing, Winnik pointed out.
