They were on their way to a scrap metal collection point, where they probably intended to sell a liturgical gong stolen from a church. Now they face up to five years in prison.

The police received a report of the theft last Friday, April 12.

– Two men entered the church in Maków Mazowiecki and took out a liturgical gong. Such an object is used to mark the most important moments during religious celebrations. After receiving the report, riot police quickly identified and detained two men (34 and 36 years old). The men were walking with the stolen item towards a metal collection point, says Monika Winnik from the police in Maków Mazowiecki in a statement.

The police secured the gong, and the two detained residents of Maków Mazowiecki were taken to police custody. At the time of their arrest, both were intoxicated. After sobering up, the men were charged with theft, to which they confessed. They face up to five years in prison for the crime they commit.
