The prosecutor’s office confirmed that one of its employees was detained while driving under the influence of alcohol. Dire consequences await him. For the time being, the prosecutor from Malbork (Pomeranian Voivodeship) has been suspended.
Last Sunday in Malbork, witnesses reported that one of the drivers driving through the city behaved unpredictably and uncertainly. One of the suspects reported to the police that he might be drunk.
The officers detained the man and confirmed the witness’s assumptions – the breathalyser – according to local media – showed about 2.5 per mille of alcohol in the exhaled air. Blood was taken from the driver for further testing.
The Malbork police do not want to comment on this matter, but the event was confirmed to us by Grażyna Wawryniuk from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk. – Unfortunately, the Deputy District Prosecutor in Malbork was detained. The District Prosecutor in Gdańsk suspended him from performing official duties, she said.
The case was transferred to the Department of Internal Affairs of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw.
Driving a car or other vehicle under the influence of alcohol is a crime under Art. 178a of the Penal Code. This is punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to two years. In addition, the court also imposes a penal measure in the form of a ban for a period of at least three years and the convict’s obligation to pay a cash benefit to the Victims’ Assistance Fund and post-penitentiary assistance in the amount of PLN 5,000 or more.
