Mammography to be part of occupational medicine examinations? This is the plan of the Ministry of Health. – We are taking the first steps, we are at the end of the analyses – said the Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna. – I think that within a year we have a chance to introduce mammography to occupational medicine – she added.

In November last year, the group of women who are eligible for free preventive mammography screening was expanded. It is now possible from the age of 45 to 74. The screening in this age group can be done without a referral, every two years. Unfortunately, only one in three eligible women decides to do so.

One way to make mammography more popular is to introduce it into the occupational health examination package. The Minister of Education Isabela Leszczyna she talked about it back in the spring of this year.

On Wednesday, a TVN24 reporter asked Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna about the progress of work on this idea. – We are taking the first steps, I think that within a year we have a chance to introduce mammography to occupational medicine. But it will definitely not be the beginning of next year – she noted.

– We are at the end of the analyses. I want to say clearly: firstly, employers will not bear the costs, and secondly, the results of these tests, which we will extend to occupational medicine, will not affect employment. These are sensitive issues that we must resolve so that everyone feels safe – Leszczyna emphasized.
