In 2022, the National Contact Point received over 1.9 million questions about the data of Polish drivers who exceeded the speed limit in the European Union, according to information provided to TVN24 Biznes by the Prime Minister’s office. This means an increase of over 12 percent compared to the situation in the previous year. Most, almost half of the inquiries, came from Germany.

In individual countries of the European Union, there are National Contact Points, which enable the official transfer of data on both those who have committed an offense and on the vehicles themselves, which are registered in another country. These are offenses recorded by speed cameras and other monitoring devices.

Fines for Polish drivers

The Chancellery of the Prime Minister informed us that in 2022, 1,905,692 questions were submitted to the National Contact Point regarding the details of Polish drivers who exceeded the speed limit in the European Union. For comparison, in 2021 it was 1,697,019 questions. This means an increase of over 12%. Every year.

According to the data provided by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, in 2022 most inquiries were received from German – 859,050. That’s about 45 percent. of all inquiries sent to the National Focal Point last year.

The next places were: France – 199 748, Italy – 174 537, The czech republic – 139 078, Austria – 125 729, the Netherlands – 108 312. Nearly 100 thousand. inquiries were also received from Belgium – 96479.

The list is supplemented by: Lithuania – 53,055, Latvia – 32,517, Hungary – 21,483, Spain – 18,751, Bulgaria – 8,308, Luxembourg – 7,169, Croatia – 3,911, Estonia – 3,684, Slovenia – 706, Slovakia – 464, Malta – 77 , Portugal – 66 and Denmark – 20.
