– The first thing is the auditors involved – these are experienced employees and officers. This is about 200 auditors plus the entire support staff that accompanies them. We do not want to use other people who are not prepared for this. (They work on the audits – ed.) the most hard-working, with knowledge, experience and above all that inspector's nose to follow public money – he said.
– The second part is being implemented normally in the usual manner, i.e. tax collection, combating economic crime, enforcing sanctions at the border and, of course, officers who protect the border. (…) These controls, these audits of public funds will certainly be extended to other entities – said Łoboda.
Łoboda did not indicate a specific date when the audits would be presented. – These are, as it were, the prerogatives of independent bodies, (…) these audit activities are undertaken ex officio, and not on official orders from anyone – he added.
One natural person covered by the audit
The head of KAS was also asked what individual was subject to the audit. – You won't find out from me. It is covered by the confidentiality of our proceedings, (…) it is a person running a business. However, I would not like to spoil the proceedings against which this person is being prosecuted, he said.
Łoboda also commented on “closed system” during the PiS governmentwhich the Prime Minister spoke about, i.e. “the mechanism of using public funds”. – The scale of irregularities that we have already diagnosed is a whole range. However, some mechanisms, competitions or subsidies without competitions, bypassing the competition rules (…) – this was in several ministries – he said.
He also explained that the task of the KAS is “first and foremost to prepare evidence in terms of spending public funds”, and it is “the National Electoral Commission that decides how to assess this evidence”. He added that National Electoral Commission did not ask KAS for any documents.
