Marek Magierowski ends his office as the Polish ambassador to Israel on Sunday. “The last three years and four months have been an unforgettable experience, both professionally and personally,” he wrote on Twitter. He has already received a positive opinion as the future Polish ambassador to Washington.
“Today is my last day as the Polish ambassador to Israel. The last three years and four months have been an unforgettable experience, both professional and personal,” wrote Marek Magierowski, who has been the Polish ambassador to Israel since June 2018, on Twitter.
“I now have hundreds of new Israeli friends: young and old, Holocaust survivors and students, businessmen, artists, teachers, guides, journalists. Soldiers and pacifists, feminists and Haredim (a branch of modern orthodox Judaism – ed.). Jews, Muslims, Christians “Strong women and resourceful men. What a bustling, admirable country,” added the ambassador who finished office.
Magierowski also thanked his Polish and Israeli collaborators, including employees of the Polish embassy in Israel. “All modest achievements were the achievements of my team from the Polish Embassy in Israel. All the failures were mine and mine alone” – wrote the ambassador. He also posted a series of photos from various events and meetings during his tenure in Tel Aviv.
Magierowski received a positive opinion on the Polish ambassador to Washington
In August after signing by President Andrzej Duda to amend the Code of Administrative Procedure Israeli Foreign Minister Jair Lapid said on Twitter that Poland “approved, not for the first time, an immoral, anti-Semitic law.” He instructed the charge d’affaires of the Israeli embassy in Warsaw to “immediately return to Israel for consultations, for an indefinite period” and suggested that Magierowski, the Polish ambassador to Israel, extend his vacation and not return to his home country. Since then, the diplomat has been in Warsaw.
At the beginning of October, the parliamentary foreign affairs committee gave a positive opinion to Magierowski as the Polish ambassador in Washington, where he will replace Piotr Wilczek, who has been in office since November 2016.
