Law and Justice MPs tried to introduce convicted politicians on Wednesday morning Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik to the Sejm. The Marshal’s Guard stood on the road. Opposition politicians did not follow the instructions and a scuffle broke out..

Party president Jaroslaw Kaczynski he later appeared at a press briefing in front of the Sejm building. – Our goal was to obtain an appropriate letter from the Marshal’s Guard, which mentions the marshal’s order (Szymon) Hołownianot to let both MPs in, he explained. CIS: we deny that the commander sent any letter to Kaczyński

Wirtualna Polska reported that after an attempt to introduce Kamiński and Wąsik, the president PIS met with the commander of the Marshal’s Guard, sub-inspector. Michał Sadoń. In response to Wirtualna Polska’s questions, the Sejm Information Center described what this conversation looked like. According to the portal, it was Kaczyński who appeared with the document.

“On February 7, 2024, before the beginning of the 5th session of the Sejm of the 10th term, the commander of the Marshal’s Guard, Sub-Inspector Michał Sadoń, met with the president of the Law and Justice party, MP Jarosław Kaczyński,” the CIS wrote in a statement.

“During the meeting, MP Jarosław Kaczyński showed Commander Sadoń a copy of the decision of the Supreme Court in the case no. I NSW 1268/23, regarding the case of Maciej Wąsik. The Commander confirmed the receipt of this document and explained extensively orally (and briefly in writing) the legal basis for the activities of the Marshal’s Guard on . February 7, 2024, regarding not allowing former MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik to enter the Sejm,” it was added.

CIS also reported that “the reason for not allowing both people to enter the premises of the Sejm was the lack of valid documents entitling them to enter the premises and buildings of the Parliament.”

“The rules for receiving such documents and the functioning of the Marshal’s Guard are regulated primarily in the Act of January 26, 2018 on the Marshal’s Guard, the Regulations of the Sejm and the Order No. 1 of the Marshal of the Sejm of January 9, 2008 issued on their basis on access to buildings in management of the Chancellery of the Sejm and access to and entry to areas managed by the Chancellery of the Sejm,” it was further stated.

It was also emphasized that the Speaker of the Chamber “takes care of peace and order in the entire area belonging to the Sejm and issues appropriate order orders, including the use of the Marshal’s Guard if necessary.”

CIS also wrote that “as part of the organizational preparations to ensure the proper course of the proceedings, the Speaker of the Sejm issued an oral order of order, the essence of which was to enforce the provisions according to which persons may enter (and move around in the premises and buildings of the Parliament in accordance with their powers) only persons who have valid documents or passes issued to them.

“At the same time, we deny the information appearing in the media that the Commander of the Marshal’s Guard handed over any letter to MP Jarosław Kaczyński. The only action taken by Commander Michał Sadoń was a short annotation on a copy of the decision,” it was noted.

Handwritten note from the commander

According to “Newsweek”, the commandant wrote in handwriting: “I have received a decision, in accordance with applicable regulations and the order of the Speaker of the Sejm, to enter the premises of the Chancellery of the Sejm without appropriate authorizations. The above applies to Messrs. Wąsik and Kamiński. They will not be allowed to enter. The applicable regulations are the Marshal’s Guard Act.” .
