Mr. Wąsik and Kamiński’s place is in the Sejm, but on investigative committees, not in the plenary chamber – said Dariusz Joński, an MP from the Civic Coalition, in “Kropka nad i”. Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL – Trzecia Droga) described the president’s actions regarding former PiS MPs as an “embarrassing spectacle.” – Could any other citizen count on such care from the head of state? – wondered the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm.
Pardoned by the president on Tuesday Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik met him on Wednesday afternoon at the Presidential Palace. The day after they left the prison walls.
The guests of “Kropka nad i” – the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm – commented on the case of Kamiński and Wąsik Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL – Trzecia Droga) and MP of the Civic Coalition Dariusz Joński.
Zgorzelski: the president is not an absolute ruler, he is not an emperor
According to Zgorzelski, it is an “embarrassing spectacle that the president has been putting on his fellow citizens for several weeks.” – This series of meetings with wives, then with gentlemen, then, you could say pardon puns – he said.
– It’s enough to be an activist PiS, then the president will pardon you and the party president will absolve you. Could any other citizen count on such protection from the head of state? – wondered the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm.
Zgorzelski emphasized that “we have to wait many, many months for a pardon or for the initiation of this procedure in the Presidential Palace.” – Meanwhile, in an instant, the president runs and swears that this is his pardon and that it is valid forever. The president is not an absolute ruler, he is not an emperor, he added.
Joński: Mr. Wąsik and Kamiński’s place is in the Sejm, but on investigative committees, not in the plenary hall
Ionski described the photos from the Presidential Palace as “terrifying”. – People expect the construction of an honest state and there is such a sense of injustice that PiS politicians, since they have a party card and are friends with the president, no matter what they do or what court they are convicted by, they can go out and laugh in everyone’s face – he added.
The KO MP referred to the announcement that convicted PiS politicians intended to appear in the Sejm. – If anyone is convicted by a final judgment, his mandate automatically expires – he said.
He also informed that the commission of inquiry into elections envelopes, of which he is the chairman, will invite Kamiński to an audition. – We will set a date soon, because I see that he is in perfect health and it is not as his colleagues reported – said Joński.
In his opinion, “Mr. Wąsik and Kamiński’s place is in the Sejm, but on investigative committees, not in the plenary chamber.” – I can’t imagine criminals sitting with us on the parliamentary benches – he said.
– We did not win to tolerate such behavior. I will really support the Marshal so that, in short, he will maintain discipline with an iron fist, so that these brazen PiS politicians and criminals will not enter the Sejm hall – he added.
What were Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik convicted of?
The parliamentary mandates of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik expired at the end of December 2023 due to a final judgment for abuse of power regarding the so-called the land scandal of 2007.
In 2007 CBA, which was then headed by Mariusz Kamiński (Maciej Wąsik was his deputy), organized a provocation that was intended to hit the then Minister of Agriculture, Andrzej Lepper. The suspected agents of the Bureau were to offer officials a bribe of several million zlotys for the de-agriculture of a plot of land in Masuria. As a result of the leak, no money was transferred and the CBA action ended in failure. As a result, Lepper was dismissed by the then prime minister Jarosław Kaczyński. The political earthquake led to the collapse of the PiS-Samoobrona-LPR coalition and to early elections, as a result of which the PO-PSL coalition took power.
Judge Anna Bator-Ciesielska, who announced the final judgment in the case of Kamiński and Wąsik in December 2023, said that their actions years ago, when they headed the CBA, “were far from” the standard of operation of law enforcement agencies within the framework of operational control and provocation. . – The activities undertaken by the defendants described in the judgment were not only illegal (…) They were not activities aimed at detecting crimes, but rather creating the crime – said the judge.
