The land scandal is not an incident that happened in the lives of Messrs. Kamiński and Wąsik – said Paweł Wojtunik, former head of the CBA, in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. He added that “it is a pity that so late, after several years, the perpetrators of the then abuses of power in the land scandal faced law and justice.” He stated that “this is not the first legal problem these people may face in the near future.”

Wojtunik: the sentences for Wąsik and Kamiński prove the scale of abuse

Paweł Wojtunik, former head of the Central Anticorruption Bureau and former director of the Central Investigation Bureau, spoke about the punishment for both politicians in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.

– It is a pity that so late, after several years, the perpetrators of the then abuses of power in the land scandal faced law and justice. I say so late because I think we all forgot what the abuse of power in faking the land scandal was about at that time. I am one of many people who knows all the materials. After some obstruction from my predecessor, I personally handed over these materials to the prosecutor’s office. I was a witness in this case and I consider these sentences to be fair and adequate – said Wojtunik.

He added that “although these sentences may seem harsh, they probably indicate the scale of abuse and a certain lack of reflection.” – It seems that this is the right time for these people to be punished – said the former boss CBA.

Wojtunik also talked about the essence of the land scandal. – (It – ed.) involved illegal activities, organizing these activities, illegal production of legalization documents, and groundless initiation of very offensive operational activities, such as operational control or undercover activities. And these people were convicted for this, he said.

Wojtunik: the land scandal is not an incident that happened in the lives of these gentlemen

– The land scandal is not an incident that happened in the lives of these gentlemen. (…) We are talking about people who were ignorant, indolent, unprepared, without education or experience in performing any operational and reconnaissance activities – continued Paweł Wojtunik.

He stated that these “politicians, who were quite aggressive in their attitudes, views and language, were given very sharp surgical tools.” – Because conducting special operations and operational control are activities that police officers and service agents have been practicing for several, if not several dozen, years – pointed out the former head of the CBA.

– And that’s not the only thing. The irregularities in the cases of the so-called villa in Kazimierz and the hunt for the former president and his wife (Aleksander and Jolanta Kwaśniewski – ed.) or the case of provocation during the privatization of Scientific and Technical Publishing Houses, generally, colloquially called the case of Mrs. (Weronika – ed.) Marczuk – recalled the interlocutor of “Fakty po Faktach”.

– These are almost identical abuses of power and we are talking here – as confirmed by the court in two instances – about conscious, deliberate abuse of the law. We are talking here about a crime in operational work – that’s what we call it in official slang – which involves the illegal, unjustified use of operational control – added Wojtunik.

Wojtunik: This is not the first legal problem they may face

Wojtunik also mentioned in this context “agent Tomek’s revelations”, which – in his opinion – “should and provide a full basis for initiating” proceedings by the prosecutor’s office. This concerns the confessions of former CBA agent Tomasz Kaczmarek, who spoke about pressure from his former bosses, Kamiński and Wąsik.

– However, in my opinion, this is not the first legal problem that these people may face in the near future, not to mention other stories related to Pegasus and the broader context of violating the law – said Wojtunik.
