Mariusz Trynkiewicz, a serial killer and sex offender known as the “Satan from Piotrków”, has died. He was 62 years old.

The information was confirmed in an interview with tvn24.pl by the spokeswoman of the Director General of the Prison Service, Lieutenant Colonel Arleta Pęconek.

– I confirm the death of Mr. Trynkiewicz – said the spokeswoman.

She added that the man died on Thursday (January 9) in the hospital ward, where he was staying due to his health condition.

– I cannot provide more information at this moment due to regulations – emphasized Lieutenant Colonel Pęconek.

Mariusz Trynkiewicz was 62 years old.

Crimes from years ago

In 1989, he was sentenced to death for the murder of four boys, which was later commuted under an amnesty to 25 years in prison. On February 11, 2014, he was released. In April of the same year, the Court of Appeal in Rzeszów found that Trynkiewicz was a person threatening others and ordered him placed in a special center in Gostynin near Płock.

In July 2015, during Mariusz Trynkiewicz's stay in a special center, the District Court in Gostynin sentenced him to 5 years and 6 months in prison for possessing child pornography while he was in another prison in Strzelce in 2006-14 Opolskie.

The District Court in Gostynin suspended the execution of the prison sentence against Trynkiewicz until the end of his stay at the local Center for the Prevention of Dissocial Behavior.

It was the case of Mariusz Trynkiewicz's completed sentence – 25 years in prison for the murder of four boys – that contributed to the adoption in 2013 of the Act on proceedings against people with mental disorders who pose a threat to the life, health or sexual freedom of other people. Its regulations entered into force in January 2014.

The Act allows, among others: pursuant to a decision of a civil court, the application – at the request of the director of a prison – to such a person, after serving a prison sentence (in the therapeutic system), preventive supervision or treatment in a closed center established in Gostynin.
