Mark Brzezinski was nominated by the President of the United States, Joe Biden as the US ambassador to Poland, the White House announced on Wednesday. Brzezinski is the son of Zbigniew Brzeziński, national security adviser to President Jimmy Carter, and a grandson of Tadeusz Brzeziński, a Polish diplomat and consular officer.
Now Marek Brzezinski is still in the process of approval by the Senate.
In January this year, the ambassador left the post in Warsaw Georgette Mosbacher. After her departure, the work of the American embassy is headed by the charge d’affaires Bix Aliu.
Who is Mark Brzezinski
Brzezinski is a lawyer and diplomat. During the tenure of President Barack Obama, in 2011-2015, he was the US ambassador to Sweden. The website of the White House also announced that he is the director of Brzezinski Strategies LLC and previously managed Makena Capital Management.
From 1999 to 2001, he was a member of the National Security Council in Bill Clinton’s cabinet – first as director for Russia and Eurasia, and then as director for the Balkans. Brzeziński stayed in Poland as a Fulbright scholarship holder and is the author of the work “Fight for constitutionalism in Poland”.

Mark Brzezinski is the son of Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security adviser to President Jimmy Carter, and grandson of Tadeusz Brzezinski, Polish diplomat and consular officer. He is the brother of Mika Brzezinski, a journalist of the American station MSNBC i Ian Brzezinski, an Atlantic Council expert and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO.
The White House emphasized that Brzezinski knows Polish and French. He was awarded the Swedish Order of the Pole Star and the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
