The Black Hawk police helicopter contributed to breaking a power line during a military picnic on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the Battle of Sarnowa Góra near Ciechanów (Mazowieckie Voivodeship), local media reported. Police confirmed the incident, adding that “an investigation is underway.”
“The police helicopter leaving the event site in Sarnowa Góra today, August 20, after 5.00 pm, contributed to breaking a section of the line connecting two high-voltage poles” – he announced on Sunday CiechanówInacze.pl portal. As he added, the line fell on cars and in a place where families with children were standing nearby. “Fortunately, it turned out that it was not a line that conducts high-voltage electricity” – noted the editors.
Black Hawk was to be the highlight of the picnic
According to local media, the police Black Hawk was to be the biggest attraction of the event. After taking off, it did not take off immediately, but circled and returned to the event site. As it moved over the picnic area, a strong breeze from the flyby probably caused one of the lines to break.
According to these accounts, screams of children and adults could be heard for some time. Police officers and firefighters quickly ordered the participants of the event to move away from the place where the broken line lay. “Luckily, no one was hurt. It ended with fear,” writes CiechanówInaczep.pl.
