Officers of the Mazovian National Revenue Administration have detained 142 shipments containing illegal goods since the beginning of the year. These were mainly drugs, but also cigarettes, medicines, leather, fragments of reef-forming coral skeletons and butterflies.

In the first half of 2023, officers of the Mazovian National Revenue Administration from the Customs and Post Office branch in Warsaw detained 142 shipments. The recipients of the parcels are residents of the Mazowieckie, Łódzkie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Pomorskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeships.

The seized shipments were said to include clothing, food, spices, cosmetics and toys, and even car seat protectors. However, each time the content was completely different. “The seized goods are mainly drugs” – reported the communication report of the Tax Administration Chamber in Warsaw.

“Officers seized a total of 77 kilograms of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. They were mainly marijuana and khat. LSD, ecstasy, hashish, MDMA and CMC were also found” – calculated IAS in Warsaw.

The value of the seized drugs is approximately PLN 4 million.

Not just drugs

In the confiscated consignments KAS officers also found medicines, cigarettes, tobacco, counterfeits, meat products and several CITES specimens. These were bear skins and skulls, fragments of reef-forming coral skeletons, bird bones and butterflies.

According to the data, the value of the smuggled goods was estimated at nearly PLN 800,000.

All cases are handled by officers of the Mazovian Customs and Tax Office in Warsaw and police officers from the Warsaw Okęcie Airport Police Station.
