The police entered over a dozen properties in towns near Warsaw, where they detained 15 people suspected of placing 174 kg of drugs and 450 ecstasy tablets on the market. Seven people were arrested.
The spokesman of the Warsaw Police Headquarters, Sylwester Marczak, informed that a large group suspected of trafficking in narcotic drugs was broken up a few days ago in the Nowy Dwór district. It was a joint operation of the officers of the department for combating drug-related crime, KSP and the National Public Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw.
He indicated that the activities of the Warsaw police officers were supported by officers from the district and poviat headquarters of the capital garrison and the counterterrostatic unit from Warsaw. – During the activities, the policemen entered several properties, mainly in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki and Zakroczym – said Marczak.
“They put 174 kilograms of drugs into the market”
– In total, the officers detained 15 people aged 24-56 suspected of trafficking and marketing significant amounts of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. According to police findings, it was supposed to be 45 kilograms of amphetamines, 59 kilograms of marijuana, 69 kilograms of mephedrone, kilogram of cocaine, 174 kilograms of drugs in total and 450 pieces of ecstasy tablets, the KSP spokesman calculated.
He noted that during the searches of the property, the police found and seized other drugs in the form of amphetamines, mephedrone and marijuana with a black market value of PLN 110,000. – In a few cases, the drugs were kicked out by the police officers from the hiding places that the suspects had created in the ground – he said.
– In addition, the police secured electronic scales, several dozen telephones, items resembling firearms, as well as documents registered as lost. On the other hand, more than PLN 25,000 has been secured for future penalties – added Marczak.
Charges and arrest
The detainees were brought to the Mazowieckie Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw. “The prosecutor presented the detainees with accusations of participation in an organized criminal group and participation in trade in large amounts of drugs,” the press department of the National Prosecutor’s Office informed.
“Due to the need to secure the proper course of the proceedings, at the request of the prosecutor, the court applied a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest against 7 people. Against 6 suspects, the prosecutor applied preventive measures in the form of, among others, police supervision and property guarantees of PLN 5,000 each” – the prosecutor’s office said.
They may face up to 12 years in prison for the alleged acts. Investigators do not rule out further detentions in this case.
