Masuria. A policeman from Ostrołęka saved a drowning man in a lake

A policeman vacationing in Masuria noticed a man who had jumped headfirst into a lake and had not emerged from the water. Without hesitation, the officer ran to the rescue and pulled the injured man to shore. An air ambulance helicopter landed on the scene.

The incident took place last Sunday in the town of Wiartel in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. A police officer from the police station in Myszyniec, on vacation, noticed a man who had jumped headfirst into the water and had not surfaced.

He was unconscious

– The policeman jumped into the water without hesitation and pulled the injured man to the shore. The man was unconscious, but after a moment he regained vital signs. It turned out to be a 43-year-old resident of the Podlaskie district, who was relaxing on the lake with his wife and children. He was transported to the hospital by the Air Ambulance Service – informed the spokesman for the police in Ostrołęka, Senior Commissioner Tomasz Żerański.

The spokesman noted that thanks to the police officer’s perceptiveness and quick reaction, the 43-year-old’s life was saved.

– We remind you to exercise special caution when relaxing by the water. Remember that water is an element that can pose a huge threat to our lives and health – the policeman appealed.
