The purchase of bonds by Mateusz Morawiecki for over PLN 4.6 million was commented on in “Kropka nad i” by former president Aleksander Kwaśniewski. In his opinion, it is “amazing how in Poland this type of behavior (…) of the representatives of the government somehow has no resonance”. “For that reason, there would be a lot of hype in normal democracies,” he said.

Ex-president Aleksander Kwasniewski commented in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 purchase by the prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, treasury bonds worth over PLN 4.6 million. This is due to his declaration of financial interests. Gazeta Wyborcza wrote that in this way the head of government “outsmarted inflation”, benefiting from high bond interest rates.

– It is amazing how in Poland this type of behavior – undoubtedly, if lawful, but unethical – somehow the representatives of the authorities have no resonance, said Kwasniewski. In his opinion, “the prime minister took a very risk”. – Because I think that even among PiS voters it must provoke some reflection – he explained.

– If I know what the situation is, I know that inflation is approaching and I am changing my savings into some safer bonds, and at the same time I do not tell people: do it all, it will be better this way, buy bonds, it is simply unethical – he said further a guest of TVN24. As he assessed, “for this reason there would be a lot of hype in normal democracies”.
