According to the property declaration of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, last year he bought treasury bonds for over PLN 4.6 million. When asked about it, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister does not want to disclose details of these bonds. Morawiecki himself did not answer the questions of the TVN24 reporter.

FROM the property declaration of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki it shows, inter alia, that his cash savings amount to approximately PLN 56,000. This is a huge drop compared to last year’s statement, but it is due to the fact that Morawiecki bought treasury bonds worth over PLN 4.6 million.

“Gazeta Wyborcza” wrote that the prime minister “outsmarted inflation” in this way and “in the most optimistic scenario (…) this year he will receive an interest rate of up to 13.15 percent, which is three times more than in the bank.” “How much can be earned on bonds is decided arbitrarily by the Ministry of Finance,” recalled “Wyborcza”.

And what was the purpose of their purchase.

“The published declaration of assets of the Prime Minister contains the necessary data listed in Article 10 (1) of the Act of August 21, 1997 on the restriction of economic activity by persons performing public functions” – the Chancellery of the Prime Minister wrote in response.

The “necessary data”, which the office of the head of government writes about, does not, however, cover the details we asked about.

The persons referred to in Art. 1 and in art. 2 points 1–2a, 3-5, 6d and 7–11 are required to submit a declaration of their financial standing. The declaration of property status concerns separate property and property covered by the marital joint property. This declaration should contain, in particular, information about the possessed cash resources, real estate, shares and stocks in commercial companies, and also about the person or his spouse acquired from the State Treasury, other state legal person, local government units, their unions or the metropolitan association property that was subject to sale by tender. This declaration should also contain data on the conduct of business and performance of functions in companies or cooperatives referred to in Art. 4.

Prime Minister Morawiecki is silent and does not answer questions

The TVN24 reporter tried to ask about the purchased bonds of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who was in Katowice on Thursday, where the host cities of this year’s men’s volleyball finals were announced. After a joint conference with the Minister of Sport, Morawiecki posed for photos with the volleyball players, and then went straight to the exit.
