McDonald’s prepares layoffs – Reuters. The company has closed offices to make cuts

McDonald’s restaurant chain is temporarily closing its US offices. It is preparing to inform employees of layoffs as part of a broader restructuring of the company, Reuters reported, citing information from the Wall Street Journal.

In an internal email sent last week to US and some non-US employees USAMcDonald’s has asked them to work from home Monday through Wednesday to be able to deliver layoff decisions remotely. It is not known how many workers will lose their jobs.

“In the week beginning April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization,” the company wrote in a message seen by The WSJ.

McDonald’s has asked employees to cancel all meetings with contractors at headquarters, it added.

McDonald’s did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The fast-food chain said in January it would review staffing levels as part of its updated business strategy, which could lead to layoffs in some areas and expansion in others.

The giants are planning layoffs

As reported by Reuters in late March, Walmart will lay off hundreds of employees responsible for the fulfillment of online orders.
