The Sejm has supported the Senate's amendments to the Copyright Act. It will now await the signature of President Andrzej Duda.

According to the Senate's adopted amendments, the president of the Office of Electronic Communications will be the mediator in disputes between publishers and big tech. Previously, publishers and editorial offices appealed for the upper house to change the unfavourable regulations passed in the Sejm so that it would be easier to negotiate with digital platforms.

The Act implements the directives of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU on copyright and related rights.

The most important amendment assumes that the Office of Electronic Communications is to act as a mediator in any disputes between publishers and internet platforms.
