Protected by Phancyr and Buk systems
Russia deployed its air group at the Humajmim base during the “military operation” in Syria in 2015, when Vladimir Putin decided to support the regime of Bashar al-Assad in the fight against “terrorist groups”, including the so-called Islamic State. At that time, the West criticized Russia for the fact that most of the raids made by Russian aviation were aimed at the Syrian opposition.
The Moscow Times wrote earlier that in the database of Huzjmim, protected by the Phancyr and Buk defense systems, dozens of modern Russian fighters and strategic bombers were stationed.
