The editors-in-chief of over 20 television, radio, press and internet editorial offices have established the Polish Media Council, RPM announced in a press release. As we read in it, the initiative is open to subsequent editors. Bartosz Węglarczyk, editor-in-chief of Onet.pl, became the chairman.
“The objectives of the Polish Media Council are primarily to protect freedom of speech, raise and disseminate professional and ethical standards of journalism, initiate and issue opinions on legislative solutions in the area of media operation and the freedom and protection of the journalistic profession,” the press release emphasized.
The initiative is open to other editors
The Council was appointed by representatives of twenty editorial offices: “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”, “Fakt”, “Gazeta Wyborcza”, “Newsweek”, “Pismo. Magazyn Opinii”, “Polityka”, “Rzeczpospolita”, “Tygodnik Powszechny”, Business Insider Polska , Fakty TVN, Gazeta.pl, OKO.press, Onet.pl, Radio RMF FM, Radio TOK FM, Radio ZET, radiozet.pl, TVN24, TVN24 BiS, tvn24.pl and Wirtualna Polska.
As we read, the initiative is open to subsequent editors. Editors-in-chief, editors-in-chief and their deputies of any medium registered and published in Poland may become members of the Polish Media Council, if they share the values and objectives of the Council.
The founding meeting of the Polish Media Council took place on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
Composition of the Polish Media Council
The Presidium of the Council was elected for a two-year term, consisting of:
– Bartosz Węglarczyk – chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Jerzy Baczyński – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Marek Balawajder – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Kamila Ceran – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Brygida Grysiak – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Barbara Kasprzycka – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Magdalena Kicińska – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Aleksandra Sobczak – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council,
– Michał Szułdrzyński – vice-chairman of the Polish Media Council.
