NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg meets with EU commissioners in Brussels on Wednesday. As the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said, the talks will focus on the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Europe’s security. ‘The partnership between the European Union and NATO is more important than ever,’ Stoltenberg said at a briefing ahead of the meeting.

It also shows how important it is to increase military aid to Ukraine. (…) Our support makes a difference on the battlefield. At this crucial point in the war, we should do even more and faster.

Von der Leyen: A stronger European defense will also make NATO stronger

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who accompanied him, informed that the main topic of talks with the commissioners would be the impact of the Russian war on Europe’s security and the resulting need to adapt to changes.

– For example, increasing defense capabilities in Europe. A stronger European defense will also strengthen NATO, the head of the European Commission clarified.

– Today we are also establishing a joint task force on critical infrastructure resilience. Experts from the European Union and NATO will cooperate in identifying threats and weak points (in infrastructure – ed.), and will develop key principles for improving resilience – she added.
