Mexico. A series of accidents during the election campaign. Three stages collapsed, dozens injured

A stage collapsed in two Mexican municipalities during campaign events for the June presidential and regional elections on Sunday. More than 60 people were injured. A few days earlier, nine people died in similar circumstances in the city of San Pedro Garza Garcia.

According to the authorities of the ruling National Revival Party (Morena), 58 people were injured as a result of the collapse of the stage and its roof during a rally of the candidate in elections member of this group Alfredo Gonzalez in the municipality of Xonacatlan, in the state Mexicoin the center of the country.

Gonzalez told local media that the main cause of the accident was strong winds. He added that among the injured were children who came with their parents to the pre-election festival.

Sunday's second accident, which also resulted in a stage collapse, took place in the commune of Ixtlahuaca, in the northern part of the state of Mexico. According to preliminary information from the election committee of Guadalupe Diaz, running in the elections as Morena's candidate, the election meeting ended with the stage destroyed by strong winds. As specified, “several people” out of over 20 on whom part of the roof fell were injured.

Both events are part of a series of events during this year's election campaign.

The most tragic accident occurred on Wednesday evening at an election rally in the city of San Pedro Garza Garcia organized by the campaign team of Jorge Alvarez Maynez, the candidate of the centrist Civic Movement (MC).

Due to strong winds, a stage with a roof collapsed there. Nine people died and over 80 were injured.
