In the Mirador del Bosque ravine, more bags with human remains were found – now their number exceeds 50. The state prosecutor’s office in Jalisco announced the results of the preliminary identification of some of them. According to investigators, the case is most likely related to the disappearance of eight local call center employees.

The operation in Mirador del Bosque began on Tuesday, May 30, when during the search for the missing young call center employees, a human leg packed in a bag was found there. The following day, the Jalisco state’s attorney’s office reported about the discovery of 45 corpse fragments. Currently, the number of bags with human remains found exceeds 50. According to the investigators, these cases are most likely related.

This thesis was supported by the results of the initial identification of the corpses, which compared the distinctive signs found on the remains, such as scars or tattoos, with descriptions of the physical characteristics of the missing persons. According to El Universal, these activities allowed for the initial identification of five wanted people. Prosecutor Luis Joaquín Méndez Ruiz, quoted by the portal, stresses, however, that “expert opinions are still in progress” and that the results of DNA tests from the Jalisciense Institute of Forensic Sciences (IJCF) are needed to complete them.

Representatives of the US government also joined the investigation by the Mexican prosecutor’s office. As a result of the investigation, it was discovered that the alleged call center was engaged in illegal activities related to real estate fraud, in which citizens were also involved USA. “The first indications are that the (call center) employees were carrying out real estate fraud and some kind of telephone extortion,” said Rosa Icela Rodríguez, head of the Secretariat for Security and Protection of Citizens (SSPC), quoted by El Universal.

According to the El Financiero website, during last week’s search of the call center’s premises and the farm associated with it, officers seized drugs, pieces of cloth allegedly bearing traces of blood, a vehicle belonging to one of the missing persons and evidence of fraud committed by the call center.

Eight employees of the call center in Zapopan are missing

On June 1, the Jalisco state’s attorney’s office announced that it had received another, already eighth, report of the disappearance of a call center employee in Zapopan – Juan Antonio. The 34-year-old man was last seen on May 22. Previously, seven people were reported missing between May 20-26. The first of them was Carlos Benjamin Garcia Cuevas. Two days after he was reported missing, Itzel Abigail Valladolid Hernández and her brother Carlos David Valladolid Hernández disappeared. After another two days, the police were informed that Arturo Robles and Jesús Alfredo Salazar Ventura were missing. On May 26, Mayra Karina Velázquez Durán and a man identified only as Jorge joined the missing persons list.

The prosecutor’s office does not rule out that the criminal group Jalisco Nueva Generación, one of the most dangerous Mexican drug cartels, may be involved in the disappearance of the young people.
