The politician referred to the Spanish conquistador when talking about his last journey to the regions on the shores of the Sea of Cortes. He emphasized that this name is inadequate and “only needs to be changed.”
– This place used to be called the Sea of Cortes, but we are changing the name to the Gulf of California. It can be called anything, as long as it is not the Sea of Cortes, said President Lopez Obrador, quoted by the Mexican daily Excelsior.
