Michael Mosley, a popular TV presenter and doctor, creator of the 5:2 diet, died while on vacation on the Greek island of Symi. On Sunday, the body of a 67-year-old was found near one of the local beaches. The discovery ended the search for the man, which had been ongoing since last Wednesday. Although the investigation is still ongoing, local police spokeswoman Konstantia Dimoglidou provided the BBC with information on the results of the Briton's preliminary autopsy.

During the autopsy, no injuries were found on Michael Mosley's body that could have contributed to his death, Dimoglidou reported. A spokeswoman for the Simi police added that investigators currently consider the cause of the 67-year-old's death to be “natural causes.” However, to confirm the above, it is necessary to carry out toxicological and histological tests.

Speaking to the BBC, Konstantia Dimoglidou also indicated the probable moment of Mosley's death. It was supposed to happen last Wednesday around 4 p.m. local time. The last time the relatives saw the man was less than three hours earlier. He then left the Agiou Nikolaou beach, where he was staying with them, and went for a walk. When, despite the passage of six hours, he did not return from his walk, his wife informed local authorities about his disappearance. This began a four-day search for the Briton.

IN search operation police, fire and coast brigade officers, a team of divers, volunteers, tracking dogs, drones and a helicopter were involved. The latter was brought to Symi from Athens, 400 km away as the crow flies. The operation ended on Sunday, near one of the beaches on the island body found, which may belong to the British presenter. Local authorities later confirmed it was Mosley.

One of the Greek police officers, quoted by Reuters, said that the man's body was found in a rocky area. State television ERT reported that he was found lying face up, with his head on a rock. The mayor of Simi Lefteris Papakalodoukas specified that “the discovery was made after he and other people, including journalists from ERT television, filmed the area from the deck of the ship.” “We reviewed the recorded evidence and it was clear that it was unfortunately Mosley,” Papakalodoukas said.
