Anna Maria Żukowska, chairwoman of the Left Club, said on “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 that what Michał K., former president of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, did during the pandemic was “deeply immoral”. – He was simply milking the state together with Law and Justice for millions – she said. Piotr Kaleta from PiS said that he did not think that Michał K. did anything wrong at that time, and if there are any doubts, the court is there to clarify them.

On Monday, Michał K., former chairman of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, was arrested in London. On Tuesday, he appeared before the extradition division of Westminster Magistrates' Court. During the hearing, K. confirmed his personal details and refused to be extradited voluntarily. The British court refused to allow the former RARS chief to pay bail so that he could remain free and answer from a free foot. This means that Michał K. will remain in custody until the extradition hearing.

He refused to be extradited and will remain in custody.

Kaleta: why shouldn't I defend the former president of RARS?

This matter was discussed in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 by the chairwoman of the Left Club, Anna Maria Żukowska, and PiS MP Piotr Kaleta.

The host asked the PiS representative why his party was defending Michał K.

– And why not defend him? That way I could also answer this question. In the previous term (of the Sejm – ed.) – when I sat on the Internal Affairs and Administration Committee, I was the vice-chairman of this committee – we had the opportunity to listen to the president and not only him at secret committee meetings, where the issues that are most strongly raised today, i.e. respirators and masks, were explained by him in great detail – said Kaleta.

– And I understand that it may be that these explanations satisfied the members of Law and Justice, but they also satisfied the members of the Civic Platform – he said.

He also referred to the actions of people who purchased protective equipment during the pandemic. “I don't think they did anything wrong at the time. If there were any cases that need to be clarified by the court, which really raise some doubts, then that will happen,” he continued.

Kaleta said that he sees the role of a parliamentarian as ensuring external and internal security for citizens. At the same time, he added that “at no point in the functioning of the government can fraud be carried out.”

Żukowska: he milked the state together with PiS for millions

Anna Maria Żukowska said that what Michał K. did as the president of RARS was “deeply immoral”. – Because we are talking about a pandemic here, about millions of Poles who were waiting for these masks. (…) He was simply milking the state together with Law and Justice for millions – she said.

She also referred to the words of Michał K. himself, who had previously said in an interview that he was looking for a job in London. “And I understand that you can't look for it remotely, you can't look for it from Poland. He had to go there, outside the territory of, let's remember, the European Union, right there. This is highly unusual, especially when it comes to this temporal correlation related to the disclosure of the charges in his case,” she added.

“Michał is a very nice guy”

TVN24 guests also commented on the reports of “Gazeta Wyborcza” that in correspondence from a private email box Michał Dworczykformer head of the Prime Minister's office, there are messages from the then Polish ambassador to NATO Tomasz Szatkowski, which contain details of negotiations on the presence of troops USA in Poland. Dworczyk assured that he “did not delete or recommend deleting any emails” and that he “never sent” any information from his mailbox that “would have a clause indicating classified information.”

“I am not authorized to share this knowledge.” Emails that Dworczyk wanted to delete

– I do not want to refer to Mr. Dworczyk's emails at this time for a very simple reason, because we know that the procedure of these emails is a criminal procedure – their coming to light, (the fact) that someone revealed it. This is a question for Mr. Dworczyk, which of these emails are real and which are not – said Kaleta.

Żukowska stated that PiS MP thus, he distances himself from the former head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. – The question is, why are you defending these businessmen so strongly here (from shopping during the pandemic – ed.), and in Mr. Dworczyk's situation, you are evading it – the representative of the Left asked him. – I think it is quite unusual that you distance yourself so strongly from Mr. former Minister Dworczyk – she added.

– Michał is a very nice guy. Michał, I greet you. I am not distancing myself from you – Kaleta replied.
