There are facts that force the prosecutor's office to act. There are faults that today led to the arrest warrant. There will be a punishment, because I am convinced that in this case everyone on the prosecutor's side has clean hands – this is how Krzysztof Gawkowski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, commented on the arrest of Michał K., former president of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. He also stated that in this case the noose around former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is “getting tighter and tighter”.

Michał K., former president of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, was detained in London. This was first unofficially established by TVN24, and later confirmed by the National Prosecutor's Office. A European Arrest Warrant was issued for him. The prosecutor's office accuses Michał K. of participating in an organized criminal group and exceeding his authority and failing to fulfill his duties in order to gain financial benefits. He faces 10 years in prison.

The spokesman for the National Prosecutor's Office, Przemysław Nowak, said that on Tuesday the British court may decide whether K. may be held in custody until his extradition to Poland. Asked when this might happen, he replied that it certainly will not be a matter of the coming days. “I'm afraid it will not be a matter of weeks either,” he added.

Gawkowski: in the RARS case, the noose around Morawiecki is getting tighter and tighter

He spoke about this matter in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 Krzysztof Gawkowski from the Left, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs,

– There are facts that force the prosecutor's office to act. There are faults that today led to the arrest warrant. There will be punishment, because I am convinced that in this case everyone on the prosecutor's side has clean hands. I remind you that the materials on Mr. Michał K. were collected during the previous government. What happened in the agency (in RARS – ed.) and in contacts with Mr. Morawiecki is certainly not free from the evidence that is necessary – he said.

– I have the impression that in the case related to the (Government – ed.) Strategic Reserves Agency, the situation looks like this: the noose around you Mateusz Morawiecki is getting tighter and tighter. Because more and more of his co-workers, who were more active, for example in the emails of the second Mr. Michał (I mean Michał Dworczyk – ed.), are today close to answering the question of who actually managed this organized crime group – said Gawkowski.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that “no one can exclude from the law a person who committed fraud, illegal purchases or did not respect public money”. – If someone believes that the law in Poland excludes the rigging of tenders – and I have this information from media reports, because I do not know the case files – then I have the impression that it is not about whether people bought because there was a need to buy respirators or masks, but about buying more expensive ones so that other colleagues could earn – the Minister of Digital Affairs continued.

Gawkowski: PiS politicians did not know how to handle classified information

The guest of “Kropka nad i” also referred to the reports of “Gazeta Wyborcza” concerning the fact that the correspondence from the private email box of Michał Dworczyk, former head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, contains messages from the then Polish ambassador to NATO Tomasz Szatkowski, which contain details of negotiations on the presence of troops USA in Poland. Dworczyk assured that he “did not delete or recommend deleting any emails” and that he “never sent” any information from his mailbox that “would have a clause indicating classified information.”

“I am not authorized to share this knowledge.” Emails that Dworczyk wanted to delete.

– Law and Justice politicians did not know how to handle classified information. PiS politicians caused Poland to be exposed to danger and this lack of loyalty to the state – because that is what disclosing classified information, secret information – is a reason not only for concern, but also for accusations – commented Gawkowski.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, “we are dealing with people who did not know what state security was.”

Gawkowski: The Left will field its candidate in the presidential elections

Gawkowski also said that the Left will put forward its own candidate in the presidential elections. He added that he estimates the chances of it being a woman or a man at “fifty-fifty”, and that this person will be presented at the turn of this year and next.

– We are considering excellent female candidates, there are probably candidates on this list, no one is closing the list. I think that in our case, the probability of choosing a woman is greater than a man – he added.

The representative of the Left stated that “PiS's form is poor, the chairman is no longer a real leader, the rebels are standing there and waiting for when to replace him too”. – There were scams there, today there is no money, and Kaczyński has a problem with his party – he assessed.
