– It's a strong team, fighting for trophies. Expectations are high, and so is the club's potential for African conditions. We have a great training base, everything is located in a military unit, so it's safely and you can work well – Michniewicz praised in an interview with Kanał Zero, where he was an expert during Euro 2024.
Michniewicz's slip-up in the first match. Defeat in the Champions League
Michniewicz's debut in FAR Rabat took place in the first round of the qualifiers for Champions League. FAR Rabat faced the vice-champion of Nigeria – Remos Stars FC. Qualifying in Africa is a bit easier than in Europe. Teams starting in the qualifications from the first round need to win only two two-legged matches to find themselves in the group stage.
The Polish coach, however, did not have the best start to his work. His team lost 1:2 away and will now have to make up for the losses in a home match. “A deserved defeat. Rematch in a week in Morocco” – commented on the match Adam Zmudziński from igol.pl.
Zmudziński's post was commented on by one of the Moroccan fans. “Czesław's style of play looked very bad. I don't think he will last the whole season in this role,” he stated briefly. The return match will take place on Sunday, August 25 at 10:00 p.m.
Czesław Michniewicz is not the only Polish coach fighting for a place in the African cups. Kazimierz Jagiełło manages the Guinean Hafia FC, with whom he will try to advance to the African Cup. Confederations Cup – is the equivalent of Europa League. His team drew 1-1 at home with Etoile Filante Ouagadougou in the first qualifying match.
