Sister Małgorzata Chmielewska, superior of the “Chleb Życia” community, talked about migrants trying to cross the Polish-Belarusian border and withdrawing some of them, including children from several years old, from Michałów to Belarus in “Faktach po Faktach”. In her opinion, on these issues, propaganda “tries to convince the public that everything is okay.” – Well, it is not ok. Not only from the Christian’s point of view, but also from the point of view of an ordinary person – she assessed.
Over 20 migrants – including women and eight children – found on Monday morning in Szymki, stayed later that day in front of the Border Guard post in Michałów in Podlasie. On Wednesday, the spokeswoman for the Podlasie Branch of the Border Guard Katarzyna Zdanowicz said in an interview with a TVN24 reporter that “the procedure was applied to migrants in accordance with the regulation”. She said that “they were brought to the border line and are now in Belarus”.
Sister Małgorzata Chmielewska, superior of the “Chleb Życia” community, assessed in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 that this situation “is a drama”. – Throwing children out in the cold, throwing children out of dirt, starvation is a scandalous thing, it is a thing so deeply immoral that it does not fit in the head of the civilized world – she said.
Sister Chmielewska: The thing that strikes me about this whole matter of people on the borders is the demoralization of consciences
– The second thing that strikes me about the whole matter of people camping on the ridge, those who try to get to us or are simply thrown to the Polish side, and then thrown by our services to the Belarusian side, is the demoralization of consciences, that is destroying people’s consciences, she continued.
– After all, those who did it – the executors of orders, orders – are people who have consciences. Who, at least it would seem, trusted this country that the service of this country would really be a service to defend its values. Of course, in defense of Polish borders, but also in defense, above all, of humanity, what is of value to all of us in Europe and beyond, explained Sister Chmielewska.
According to her, “this is a drama, this is killing consciences, not to mention all the propaganda (…) around these unfortunate people wandering on the border (…), all the propaganda that dehumanizes, that tries to convince society that everything is okay”. – Well, it is not ok. Not only, of course, above all, from the point of view of a Christian, but also from the point of view of an ordinary person – assessed the superior of the “Bread of Life” community.
A state of emergency at the Polish border with Belarus
There is an increased number of migrants in the areas near the border with Belarus. The Polish authorities argue that this is the result of a “hybrid war” waged by the Lukashenka regime. Part of the Lublin region and Podlasie is under a state of emergency. There are numerous restrictions, and journalists are not allowed there.
