Latvia. State of emergency in the areas near the border

The Latvian government has also obliged the relevant institutions to provide people who cross the Belarusian-Latvian border with accommodation, food and basic necessities.
Lithuania. State of extreme situation
At the beginning of July, Lithuania introduced a state of extreme situation throughout the country, strengthened border patrolling, involving, among others, the military.
The Minister of the Interior, Agne Bilotaite, said at the time that the decision was made not because of the growing threat, but because of the need to facilitate decision-making related to migrants. – This is not a challenge that we cannot overcome, but it is very important to have a legal system and instruments that will allow us to quickly respond to challenges – she explained.
However, the Lithuanian government did not decide to introduce a state of emergency. The head of the Ministry of the Interior requested it at the end of July.
