Marianna Wartecka from the Ocrzenie Foundation spoke on TVN24 about the help provided by the Foundation to migrants on the Polish-Belarusian border. – Of course, we can only provide assistance outside the state of emergency – she reserved. – She explained that they reach groups and people “who manage to leave this restricted zone”.

She also said that these people or their families contact the foundation and then send a “pin with their location”. – We are trying to reach such a group, whether it is us or other organizations operating near the border. We are quite territorially divided with other organizations. This border is very long, over 400 kilometers long, she pointed out.

Wartecka also instructed how anyone can support migrants at the border or help a foundation. The activist indicated that it is worth talking about this situation in the first place. – Talk about it as private persons, as representatives, representatives of companies or organizations in which you work. Speak up, express your position – she said.

– Because this is a really huge humanitarian crisis and you do not have to consider yourself an expert in the field of migration or refugees to have an opinion on whether it is allowed to throw people into the forest in winter. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion on this subject and to express it – she noted.

Migrants at the Polish-Belarusian border

Since the spring, the number of attempts to illegally cross the Belarusian border with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland by migrants from the Middle East, Africa and other regions has increased sharply. The EU and its member states believe that this is the result of deliberate actions by Belarus in response to the sanctions imposed on the regime.

The Polish Border Guard informs that there are more and more people trying to get to Poland from Belarus illegally. Since September 2, due to the migratory pressure, a state of emergency has been in force in 183 localities in the Podlaskie and Lubelskie provinces adjacent to the border with Belarus. In these areas, civil rights are partially restricted, and journalists, among others, are not allowed to enter. All information about the situation in the border area comes from the messages provided by the authorities and services.
