Jakub Sieczko, an anaesthesiologist at the head of the #MedycyNaGranicy group, spoke about migrants on the Polish-Belarusian border who need help in “Fakty po Faktach”. – A colleague who came back from duty told me this: I will never forget the sight of a woman feeding a child in the middle of the forest by some small fire among a group of chilled people – he said. Maria Bożena Ancipiuk, president of the city council in Michałów, emphasized: – We cannot allow migrants to die in our commune.
In Podlasie, next to the zone of emergency, on Thursday, a group of several dozen people with medical education, i.e. #MedycyNaGranicy, started on duty. Jakub Sieczko, an anaesthesiologist at the head of it, said on Saturday in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 that it is impossible to watch what is happening on the Polish-Belarusian border “with folded arms”.
Head of the #MedycyNaGranicy group: there is something to do even outside the state of emergency
Sieczko said that on September 24, the group applied to the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration to enter the state of emergency, but they were not approved. – It turns out, however, that there is something to be done outside the zone. All indications are that the size of this crisis is such that these people are already often outside the state of emergency. Already on the first day we had a six-hour night intervention, where our team went to medically support a group of a dozen or so people who had been in the forest for 15 days, as far as we know, ‘he said.
– This group included children under two years old, a child four years old – he added. – A friend who came back from this shift told me this: I will never forget the sight of a woman feeding a child in the middle of the forest by some small fire among a group of chilled people – he reported.
– These pictures are absolutely dramatic. As far as we’ve only known about it from the media, we’ve seen it with our own eyes and it’s really moving. We are needed there – he said.
Ancipiuk: we cannot allow migrants to die in Michałów
Maria Bożena Ancipiuk, the chairman of the city council in Michałów referred to the issue of migrants, including children who were brought to the Border Guard post in Michałów on September 27. The Border Guard said that the migrants had been led to the border with Belarus.
– We cannot afford to let migrants and children die here in Michałów, in our commune. These are children, they have their rights. We cannot deal with them like this. Anyone with a bit of humanity knows how to behave with children – she said.
