The President of the Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves, Michał Kuczmierowski, informed that on Monday evening a transport with humanitarian aid for immigrants in Belarus left the RARS depot. The border may be crossed after receiving permission from the Belarusian authorities.
The aid declared on Sunday for immigrants staying in the border area on the Belarusian side is now ready to be transferred.
According to Kuczmierowski, eight tents, 80 beds, 160 blankets and 80 sets of pajamas as well as personal protective equipment are transported.
He explained that the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had sent a note to the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that now the Polish side was waiting for an answer. “Due to the fact that the immigrants are on the Belarusian side, we will provide our humanitarian aid after it has been transported through the border crossing.”
The second part of the transport is being prepared
Kuczmierowski informed that the second part of the transport, which may contain food and medical supplies, is also being prepared. “We are waiting for confirmation from the Belarusian authorities as to the needs and expected support,” he said. He added that “the note was sent on Sunday, we are still waiting for a reply.”
He recalled that similar transports were transferred to Lithuania in mid-July. “We offered tents, personal protective equipment, beds, aggregates and heaters. We are currently preparing another transport, which is a response to the request of the Lithuanian side,” said the head of RARS.
