Humanitarian convoy from Poland. Authorities in Minsk: politicking and populist rhetoric

Last week, another letter was sent to the Belarusian authorities with a proposal for Poland to send a humanitarian convoy for migrants at the border, and the trucks are ready for departure. A spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Anatol Hłaz, said that “Poland’s proposal is politicking and populist rhetoric, unrelated to reality and the situation.” According to Hłaz, “in the hasty unilateral decisions of the Polish authorities to send something without sense, request or even consent of the partner, it is a manifestation of a concrete disregard for Belarusian statehood and sovereignty.”

The previous convoy with humanitarian aid from Poland was not admitted to the territory of Belarus. So far, the Belarusian authorities have not officially responded to the note sent by the Polish Ministry of Diplomacy. At the same time, Poland began to prepare for the construction of a border protection in the form of a fence. The construction is to be accelerated thanks to the special act, which is currently at the stage of works in parliamentary committees.
