Migrants are still trying to cross the Belarusian border to Poland. Activists and non-governmental organizations try to help them. – This restores faith that maybe we are not so bad, that maybe we have a feeling that people need help in such situations – said former ombudsman Adam Bodnar in “Facts after Facts”.

According to the data of the Border Guard, on Wednesday the guards recorded 600 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border. As added, 19 immigrants were detained, including 16 Iraqi nationals, two Indian nationals and one Syrian national. The Border Guard said that the remaining attempts were prevented by Border Guard officers.

In “Fakty po Faktach”, Adam Bodnar referred to the authorities’ unwillingness to cooperate with non-governmental organizations and activists who want to help migrants.

– It is very unpleasant how the state and public authorities react to this type of initiative, but on the other hand, all those who are on the border restore our faith in humanity – he said.

– Social organizations operating for months, recently medics led by Jakub Sieczko, the people of Michałów and all those places where help for migrants is organized, it restores faith that maybe we are not so bad. Maybe we feel that people need help in such situations, show support, medical protection and humanitarian aid – he added.
